Do you want to start with BJJ?

Then you've come to the right place. Our teachers have already taught hundreds of beginners the basics of BJJ.

Here are the three most important tips for beginners:

TIP 1: KEEP CALM
This is super important. Many people shoot in fight-or-flight modes when they start sparring. The big secret is to stay calm. Why? This way you can focus on the techniques you have learned, you waste less energy and it is more difficult for your opponent to move you. Just think about it: who is easier to lift? Someone who is tensing up, or someone who is completely relaxed on the floor?

TIP 2: TAKE NOTES
Everyone learns in a different way, but what works well for many of our members is taking notes right after class. This way you can easily read back what you have learned. Go through the techniques again in your head. Research shows that visualizing techniques works almost as well as practicing them physically.

TIP 3: CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY
We get it, BJJ is a lot of fun. But don't go from 0 workouts to 10 workouts a week in one go. Then it becomes difficult for your body to keep up. Moreover, there is a good chance that you will then have to recover for a week. Aim to train 2 to 3 times a week at the beginning, and gradually build up from there.
